UC Botanical Garden at Berkeley 

Join us for an escorted garden tour on

Sunday, August 9th at 9:30

9:30 - Assemble at the Julia Morgan Room and enjoy coffee & donuts. (Plan to arrive earlier to pay for parking. More info is linked.)

10:00 - Welcome and introduction from CGLHS and Andrew Doran, Director of Collections

10:30 - Tour the garden with Andrew 

12:30 - Lunch in the Redwood Grove. Bring your own lunch! CGLHS will provide drinks

1:00 - The event officially ends, and you may continue to explore the gardens on your own. Be sure to visit the plant sale area as well as the fun gift store

Parking costs $1.50 per hour. You will pay in advance at the parking payment machine in the parking lot, using cash or charge. Have your license plate with you when you approach the parking payment machine. See this link for details on directions and parking. Please carpool, if possible.

About our host: Andrew Doran is the Director of Collections at the UC Botanical Garden at Berkeley, bringing over 25 years of experience working with living and preserved plant collections, as well as libraries and archives. His career spans an broad range of institutions. He did horticultural work at London's historic Cadogan Estate and in England's nursery trade, worked on plant names and database projects at Kew Gardens and the RHS Garden, Wisley, and managed plant records at Denver Botanic Gardens. He later oversaw the relocation of the University of Connecticut's biological collections while curating its campus arboretum, and spent 11 years managing the collections of the University and Jepson Herbaria (UC/JEPS) at Berkeley. Along the way, he also worked in private horticulture sourcing plants for Bay Area gardens and managed physical collections for the Internet Archive before returning to living collections at the Botanical Garden.
